The Greater Southern Waterfront Beside Terra Hill

The Greater Southern Waterfront is the long stretch of southern coast that the authorities plan to transform as the port terminals move to Tuas, and Terra Hill looks over its western end from the hill at Yew Siang Road. The developer describes the waterfront as the city’s economic catalyst for decades to come.

The Scale of the Waterfront Near Terra Hill

By the developer’s account, the waterfront spans about 30 km of coastline from Pasir Panjang to Marina East and some 2,000 hectares of land, a coastline about six times the size of Marina Bay. Its plans include more than 200 hectares of nature trails and parks, about 9,000 new public and private homes and over 20 million sq ft of commercial space, figures the developer gives as estimates that remain subject to change.

Development is set to take place in phases, starting with the former Pasir Panjang Power District, the Keppel Club site and the area around Mount Faber.

Pasir Panjang Power District Near Terra Hill

The former Pasir Panjang Power Stations lie a few minutes’ drive from Terra Hill, near Labrador Park. The developer notes the district’s potential to become a commercial and recreational waterfront precinct built around its industrial heritage, with the power stations redeveloped into mixed-use spaces.

Keppel Club, Labrador and the Green Network Around Terra Hill

Further east, the former Keppel Club site is planned as a waterfront residential estate of about 9,000 homes. Around Labrador Nature Reserve, the developer describes a green network of six existing green sites and four new parks, at Alexandra, Berlayer Creek, Keppel Club and King’s Dock, bringing larger natural spaces close to the coast.

Sentosa, Brani and the Port Terminals Below Terra Hill

Offshore, Sentosa and Pulau Brani are being planned together as one leisure destination of five zones: Vibrant Cluster, Island Heart, Waterfront, Ridgeline and Beachfront. On the developer’s maps, the city port terminals at Tanjong Pagar, Keppel and Brani are marked as moving to Tuas by 2027, and the Pasir Panjang terminals below Terra Hill by 2040, which is what frees the coastline for the new precincts.

Exact locations for the redevelopment projects are to be determined by the relevant authorities, and the timing will unfold over many years. For residents of Terra Hill, the waterfront is first of all a neighbour: new parks, trails and destinations taking shape along the coast below the hill. The location page shows the developer’s map.
